Dr Alessio Cornia
Dr Alessio Cornia is a Research Associate at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism. His main area of research interest is the comparative research of journalism, with a focus on news industry developments, digital news, EU journalism, political communication, journalism and corruption, and risk communication. He is currently working on the Digital News Project, focusing on how private media are developing in several European countries.
He comes from a position of Ricercatore (Senior Research Fellow) at the Department of Political Science, University of Perugia, where he taught Online Communication Campaigns and Digital Media Studies, and where he was involved in several EU-funded research projects (e.g. ANTICORRP, OPTI-ALERT and AIM). In 2009 he completed a Ph.D. in Social and Political Theory and Research (University of Perugia).
He published a monograph (Notizie da Bruxelles, 2010, FrancoAngeli) and several of his articles have featured in scientific journals including Media, Culture and Society, European Journal of Communication, Journalism, Journalism Studies, Journal of Risk Research.
