Jussi Niemeläinen

Moscow Bureau Chief, Helsingin Sanomat

Mr Niemeläinen holds an MA in Political Science from university of Tampere, Finland. He started his career in a regional Finnish daily Kainuun Sanomat as an intern in 2002. Following year, after a short stint with Finnish civil service, he moved to Helsingin Sanomat, the leading Finnish daily, where he has worked since, first as staff writer at the national desk, later also at foreign and at politics desks.

From the beginning of 2007 until joining the Reuters Institute he worked as debuty editor for national news.

After one term at Oxford Mr Niemeläinen moves to Moscow to work there as correspondent and bureau chief for Helsingin Sanomat.
