RISJ Annual Report 2016-2017
2016–17 was a year when the role of journalism in holding power to account and providing trustworthy information appeared ever more relevant. The report gives an overview of our work to provide research and evidence to understand those changes, both in news production and consumption. This Annual Report covers our journey through the academic year 2016–2017; our collaboration and work with 21 journalist fellows from 17 different countries; and our 26 publications including the Digital News Report 2017, which polled 70,000 people across 36 countries, and covered an additional 4 markets in Asia and 3 in Latin America.
