Lana has a degree in Food Technology, a degree in Accountancy, and an ATT Intermediate level qualification from Peterborough College of Adult Education where she also worked in Finance for three years. She joined the University of Oxford in 2007.

She has worked as a Finance Officer at the Department of Politics and International Relations and the Reuters Institute since September 2014.
