Jonas Jungar

Head of quality control and audience dialogue, Yle Sweden

Jonas Jungar is the Head of quality control and audience dialogue at the Swedish-speaking division of the Finnish Broadcasting Company (Yle). His role is similar to that of a public editor - to partly ensure that content and broadcasts meet journalistic quality standards, and also explaining to the audience what defines good, serious journalism and how that set of rules is applied in the day-to-day operations.

Jonas has broad experience in both broadcast and online journalism. He started his career at Yle as a reporter for domestic television news in 1995, and has since worked in nearly every area of news journalism - as a presenter, EU correspondent (Brussels), producer and editor. He has a master's in political science from the Åbo Akademi University.

His research will focus on the role of the public editor.
