Dr John Oliver

Dr John Oliver is an Associate Professor of Media Management at Bournemouth University and an experienced academic who has published in international media and business journals. His recent research into labour productivity in the creative industries has been used as evidence by the Department of Culture Media & Sport and his work on UK Media Industry dynamics is noted for its high level of instrumental impact with media executives.As an executive trainer, he has delivered programmes in media strategy to directors, managers and producers from across the European audiovisual sectors. In the UK, he has delivered executive education to clients such as the BBC, ITV, Virgin Media, Sky, UKTV, Channel 4, FremantleMedia and Bell Pottinger. A former Deputy President, and current Executive Board Member, of the European Media Management Association, he contributes to the management of the association’s activities across 28 European countries.   Dr Oliver will be conducting British Academy/Leverhulme funded research into the successful digital transformations of media firms. This work will integrate three primary areas of empirical and theoretical research: business models, organisational strategy and dynamic capabilities in a longitudinal analysis (1995-2015).
