October issue of the International Journal of Press/Politics out now

The October 2015 issue of the International Journal of Press/Politics, edited by RISJ Director of Research, is now out.It includes a series of original research articles on news media and political communication, including analysis of— How gender bias in the media persists, even when the political system evolves rapidly toward equal representation. The role journalists play in systematically sharpening political conflict by orchestrating disagreements and by amplifying possible consequences, especially when covering politicians or parties in positions of power. The way in which frame contestation—usually achieved through diverse sourcing in news reports quoting not only governments but also opposition voices and other alternative views—significantly influence how much official framing of high-stakes political issues like foreign wars resonate with audiences.
