RISJ Director of Research presentation in New York
15 Nov 2017
November 14, RISJ Director of Research Rasmus Kleis Nielsen kicked off the 2017 Digital Media Strategies USA event with a presentation hosted by Reuters at the news agency’s Times Square offices.
Drawing on recent RISJ research on media use and audience perceptions of fake news, he offered the attendees three core points for news and media in 2018 – first, distributed discovery continues to drive reach, but platforms and publishers need to pay more attention to brand recognition, second, there is a crisis of confidence in both social media and news media – who can seize the chance and stand out as trusted sources? and, third, the challenges of navigating news in distributed environments are only going to grow more pronounced as we move to messaging and voice.
Others speakers at the event included Amy Bernstein, editor of Harvard Business Review, Jason Kint, Chief Executive Officer of Digital Content Next, and Jed Hartman, Chief Revenue Officer, The Washington Post.
