Anne Salomäki

Anne Salomäki has worked for local, regional, and national news outlets in Finland as a journalist and subeditor. Currently, she's working for the Finnish News Agency STT, one of the oldest news agencies in the world. She has also worked as a freelance contributor to various magazines and newspapers, been a subeditor at an English-language startup news website, co-produced a documentary film project as well as experienced a stint in content marketing. As a freelancer, she's written stories from Finland and whilst travelling in Europe and Latin America; and on top of her native Finland, she has lived in the UK, Peru, and the US. 

She holds an MSocSc in Media and Mass Communication from the University of Tampere and an MA in Sociology from the University of Manchester, and she has also studied at the University of Salford and Helsinki and Jyväskylä open universities. Her project at the RISJ explores alternative narratives to the representation of non-human animals in journalism.
