A new Fellowship will bring a journalist from Collective Newsroom to the Reuters Institute

The Reuters Institute is delighted to announce the Reuters-Collective Newsroom India Fellowship, which will bring an outstanding journalist from this news organisation to Oxford to work on a project that’s important for their newsroom or the news industry as a whole.

The journalist selected will spend one academic term at the Reuters Institute and will share experiences with colleagues from all over the world. 

Collective Newsroom is an independent news organisation founded by four of the BBC's most senior and now former employees in India. It was launched in 2024 as a content producer for news providers in India and globally, with the BBC as its first client. It delivers Indian journalism in six Indian languages in addition to English, with more than 250 journalists based in Delhi and several other Indian cities.

Collective Newsroom joins more than a dozen of funders that make possible our Journalist Fellowship. The programme, which brings together reporters and editors from all over the world, is one of the world’s leading schemes for practising, mid-career journalists to take some time out from their day jobs to explore journalism in depth. 

The programme includes seminars, networking events and discussions with peers. While in Oxford, our Journalist Fellows work on a project that can be of direct impact to them, their career, their newsroom and the wider media industry.
