Tai Nalon is the co-founder and executive director of Aos Fatos, an award-winning Brazilian news organization that combines technology and journalism to combat disinformation and strengthen public discourse. She oversees a multidisciplinary team, including journalists, developers, OSINT experts, and data scientists, who work across editorial, audiovisual, technology, and innovation areas.
Under her leadership, Aos Fatos has launched several pioneering initiatives. These include an intelligence unit with a real-time monitoring system that detects emerging false narratives online; innovative audiovisual productions on political disinformation; and AI-powered tools that help users verify information through conversational platforms. She also led the development of the proprietary transcription tool Escriba and co-authored the first AI policy within the fact-checking industry, establishing transparency and ethical standards for the use of generative AI in such newsrooms.
Over the past decade, Aos Fatos has published more than 20,000 fact-checks and investigations, contributing to inquiries by Brazil's Supreme Federal Court, Electoral Court, and Congress. Under Nalon's direction, the organization maintains sustainable funding through technology, innovation, and intelligence services while upholding full editorial independence.
Before founding Aos Fatos, Nalon worked at Folha de S.Paulo and holds a degree in Journalism from the State University of Rio de Janeiro.
