Maria Kiseleva
Maria has been working as a reporter, correspondent, and producer for top-tier media across print, online platforms, podcasts, and YouTube for more than 10 years.
In 2018, she joined the BBC Russian Service in Moscow. During her time there, she wrote dozens of articles, primarily on topics related to ecology and economics. She also produced video stories focusing on environmental protests in various regions of Russia and issues of environmental pollution. Several of her pieces were translated into English and other languages and were published across various BBC services and platforms worldwide.
In 2022, following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Maria relocated to Riga to continue working for the BBC Russian Service. There, she covered news related to the invasion and one of the biggest waves of emigration from Russia. A number of her works were nominated for the independent Russian journalism award "Redkollegiya."
Since 2023, Maria has been working as a producer of special projects for a Russian-speaking TV channel "Current time" (part of RFE/RL). These projects have explored topics such as artistic protest against the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the mechanism of sanctions against Russia, and the war's impact on Ukraine's ecology.
Maria will explore the experiences of independent Russian journalists in exile.
