Liliane Landor
Liliane Landor
Liliane Landor has served in many roles at the BBC including as Director of the World Service

Liliane served as Senior Controller of BBC News International Services and Director of the BBC World Service from September 2021 to August 2024. She re-joined the BBC from Channel 4 News, where she was Head of Foreign News, responsible for award-winning, high-impact international journalism.

Much of her journalistic career has been built at the BBC, which she joined via the French Service. She went on to present and edit flagship BBC World Service programmes before leading language services across Africa and the Middle East. She later became Controller of Languages, with editorial responsibility for all BBC non-English language services across radio, television, and digital platforms.

In 2014, she launched the BBC’s 100 Women project and founded the BBC staff network Global Women in News, both of which remain high-profile and active.

As a member of the BBC News Group Board, Liliane was part of the executive team leading BBC News and Current Affairs, and was the only person of colour to hold a senior editorial role on the Board at that level.

Liliane's time at the Reuters Institute will be spent looking into impartiality and its discontents.
