Edwin Okoth
Edwin Okoth is a newspaper reporter specialised in writing business news and features with Kenya’s largest newspaper by circulation and readership - the Daily Nation.
Born in 1985, his passion for journalism has remained resilient since his childhood days. Edwin became an active debate champion in both primary and secondary school.
He joined Kenyatta University after passing his O-Levels and enrolled for a communication degree in 2005. He graduated four years later with a second class – upper division Bachelor of Arts degree. Before his graduation, he undertook a radio internship with Kenya’s national broadcaster, the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation where he began presenting live news programme under three months into the internship.
Edwin’s passion to find space in the competitive media industry saw him seek further studies at postgraduate level in mass communication and he resigned from his banking job to join the Daily Nation in November 2014.
“I had gathered sufficient information after over three years in the banking industry and in various departments, it was now time to use the background acquired in writing business stories with the depth of an expert and the professionalism of a trained journalist,” Mr Okoth says.
He hopes to become a media expert with exposure and experience in both print, radio and television. His most recent major assignments include the 2015 Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Nairobi and the opening ceremony of the Second Suez canal in Cairo.
