Hannah Greber is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism. Her project “CAPTURED?” examines how the relationship between journalism and platforms may affect journalism’s ability to hold powerful platforms to account.

Previously, she worked in the Department of Communication Science at the University of Vienna as a postdoctoral researcher. There, she studied how audiences respond to emerging technologies and trends, such as deepfakes, constructive journalism and digital disconnection. She has also co-led the Austrian Journalistic Role Performance Project team.

Hannah earned a PhD with her thesis titled "Immersive Journalism - The Future of the News" from the Political Communication Research Group at the University of Vienna. In her thesis, she investigated whether audiences want and need this type of journalism, and which effects immersive journalism has on political participation, information processing, and emotions.

Her research has been published in peer-reviewed Journals, such as Digital Journalism, Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, and the International Journal of Press/Politics. She uses a range of methods, such as experiments, qualitative and quantitative content analyses, focus groups, and meta-analyses.

Prior to her employment at the University of Vienna, Hannah Greber completed the Bachelor and Master in Communication Science as well as the Bachelor Degree of English and American Studies, all at the University of Vienna. Additionally, she has worked as a freelance journalist for various newspapers and magazines and has directed and co-directed journalistic virtual reality productions.
