Chineme Carl Okafor

Journalist, THISDAY Newspapers

Chineme Carl Okafor is a business journalist and climate change watcher. He has put in around 10 years in mainstream journalism, covering issues around the energy market – electricity, oil and gas; national infrastructure development; climate change and urban poverty, especially within Nigeria.

He writes for THISDAY Newspapers from its Abuja bureau, and occasionally steps in as an in-house business and economy analyst for the paper’s sister broadcast arm, Arise News Network. He has covered, reported and participated in key energy industry meetings, conferences and study tours across Africa, Europe, and America, and has been honoured with several national journalism awards.

Chineme has a first degree in business and education, and then a second in international affairs and diplomacy. When not analysing industry data and writing business stories, he is working with a network of journalists to research and write about urban poverty in Nigerian cities, as well as researching for original stories on issues concerning Nigeria’s extractive industries.

He enjoys reading, data mining, travelling, driving, swimming, cooking but not really eating, watching football and tennis, and the occasional walk in the park.
