Vacancy: Events and Communications Assistant

The RISJ is seeking an Events and Communications Assistant to provide administrative support for events and communications.  This is a fixed term post until 31 October 2013 to provide support in an intense period of activity leading up to the thirtieth anniversary of the Journalism Fellowship Programme.You will assist the Events/Communications Officer with the organisation of events and conferences including organising delegate registration, arranging venues and catering, preparing and disseminating publicity, maintaining contact databases, liaising with speakers and helping with arrangements on the day. Based in Norham Gardens, Oxford, you will also assist in the preparation and posting of content on the Institute's social media channels including the website, Twitter, blogs and podcasts. An interest in developments in journalism and media would be useful. We are looking for someone who is able to work accurately to fixed deadlines with minimal supervision; be well-organised with excellent attention to detail, and have good interpersonal skills. You should have a flexible approach to work with a willingness to take on new responsibilities and to work additional hours when required and be able to remain calm and professional whilst under pressure. You will need to be competent in MS Office programmes, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook and Access, and should have experience of editing, blogs and social media platforms. Ideally your experience will include using Content Management Systems e.g. WordPress. Closing date: noon on Thursday 25th April 2013.
