Matthew Weber

Matthew Weber is a doctoral candidate at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and the University of Southern California.Prior to USC, Matthew worked as a brand manager at Tribune Corporation in Chicago, IL, and prior to that as a media strategist. Matthew currently studies the structural transformation of the newspaper industry, looking at how organizations change strategies to adapt to online production. His research uses historical data from the Internet Archive (archive.org) to trace the development of online newspapers; this data is paired with extensive interview. In addition to this work, Matthew studies the impact of social media on news production, and is working on a practical paper about best practices of social media use for journalists. Matthew also holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Economics from Northwestern University, and a M.S. in Journalism and Media Management at Northwestern University¹s Medill School of Journalism.
