Joyce Hor-Chung Lau

Education Editor, International Herlad Tribune

Ms Lau read English at McGill University in Montreal, where she began her journalism career by writing for various Canadian magazines. She moved to Hong Kong in 1999 as an editorial assistant for the Boston Globe, before quickly moving to become Associate and then Managing Editor for HK Magazine between 2000 and 2003.

She took over as managing editor for this small local magazine shortly before the SARS crisis hit, requiring her to lead her staff through a difficult financial period as a result of the outbreak.

From 2003 to 2005 Ms Lau worked as the Arts Editor for South China Morning Post. She was a part of the team that first opened the International Herald Tribune's Asia Newsroom in February 2005, where she currently works as a copy and layout editor and has also written several articles reporting from China, Hong Kong, and Vietnam.
