Dina Kabil

Head Cultural Sectional, Al Ahram Weekly

Dina Kabil holds a MA in French and comparative literature from the Faculty of Arts at Cairo University. She works for Al-Ahram Hebdo, a weekly newspaper which is part of the Al-Ahram company, since the launch of the publication in 1994. She specialised in art criticism, covering cultural events and presenting  intellectual debates. She is currently head of the cultural pages, especially book reviews, cultural debates and literature comments.

She has also worked for Al-Badeel daily newspaper, having been involved with the development of the title since the before its launch in December 2006.

She has written for many other newspapers such as Al-Karama (The Dignity), the weekly newspaper of the Karama political party, Al-Fonoune (The Arts), a Kuwaiti monthly newspaper, Al-Beit (The Home), the magazine of interior design published by Al-Ahram, and the independent newspaper Al-Dostour (The Constitution) for its weekly publication.

In 2007, she translated into Arabic Al-Masrah al-Mohaguer (Emigrated Theatre), Soliman Ben Issa's play written in French, with editing by the Swedish Institute in Alexandria. 

In 2005, she was involved in the translation of a cultural project’s writing about Childhood Landscapes, which was organised by Pro Helvetia, Suisse Foundation for Culture.
