Vacancy: RISJ Administrator

The RISJ is seeking an individual to take on the role of Institute Administrator, based in Norham Gardens, Oxford. The successful applicant will be located in a small but expanding research centre within the Department of Politics and International Relations, and will be working closely with leading researchers, journalists and potential funders.The postholder will play a leading role in the strategic management of the Institute, and will have a high level of responsibility for financial and personnel management, communications and research administration. The Institute Administrator will also oversee the effective functioning of the Institute’s flagship Journalism Fellowship Programme. The successful candidate will have a good track record of financial and personnel management, and experience in a leading role in service provision to a range of stakeholders. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and IT skills are crucial. Experience of marketing and events management, and an understanding of the Higher Education sector, project fundraising, and the structure and culture of journalism in the UK would be desirable. Possessing an interest in and empathy for people from diverse cultures is essential. The role is full-time and is available from late April 2013, or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a fixed-term position until 31 December 2015 although it is expected to be extended by a further year this summer. The closing date for applications is 12.00 midday on 19 March 2013.
