Knut Erik Holm

03 Sep 2014

It is with enormous sadness we have learned of the death of our former Fellow, Knut Erik Holm. He was a long-time foreign news reporter and a respected and well-liked member of the Fellowship Programme in Trinity term 2014. He had a long career at NRK, the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. A former head of its foreign news department, he covered several big events during his career as a journalist, among them the tsunami in South East Asia in 2004. Knut Erik began working in NRK in 1989, as a radio news reporter. After that he held several positions in NRK’s news division, working most of the time in foreign affairs. From 2010 until this spring he was head of the foreign news department. “Knut Erik was extremely knowledgeable. He was also respected outside Marienlyst [the NRK headquarters]. He was thorough in all his decisions, both regarding the security of his co-workers and his journalistic work,” says Knut Magnus Berge, head of NRK’s foreign news department. “NRK has lost a great journalist. We have lost a good friend. But today we will think of the ones who were most important to him.” Knut Erik was 56 years old. He leaves behind his wife, children and grandchildren.
