for the Study of Journalism

Location:

Oxford University's Centre for Research into News Media

The Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism was established in autumn 2006, with core funding from the Thomson Reuters Foundation, and is part of the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Oxford. At the heart of the Institute is the long-standing Thomson Reuters Fellowship Programme for visiting journalists, now in its 25th year, and based at Green Templeton College. The Institute build on this tradition and is now a university research centre of excellence.

Publications

The Institute is dedicated to the rigorous, international comparative study of journalism. Our publications present findings, analysis and recommendations from leading experts from both academic and practitioner backgrounds.

The first six titles in our CHALLENGES series are now available for download.

Fellowships

The Journalist Fellowship Programme brings well-established mid-career journalists from around the world to Oxford to meet and pursue their research interests.

The deadline for receipt of applications for the Thomson Reuters Foundation Fellowship Programme 2010/2011 is 12.00 noon, Wednesday 27th January 2010.

“The Reuters Fellowship gave me a break from the routine and the grind of a newsroom, and the chance to research the Freedom of Information Act to a level and depth I could have experienced in few other situations. The company of other journalists with their own different backgrounds, interests and experiences was a real pleasure.”

Senior Output Editor, The World Tonight, BBC Radio 4; Fellow 2008
